Early Life and Education
Qari Ali al Hudhaify was born in 1947 in Saudi Arabia. His father, Muhammad Abdul Hudaify, was a scholar and Imam in the Saudi Arabian Army, providing a religious foundation for his early life. He memorized the Quran under the tutelage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Hodaifi in his village.
Academic Background
He pursued higher education in Sharia law, earning his degree from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in 1972. He continued his studies at Al-Azhar University, where he completed his master’s and Ph.D. in Islamic law by 1975.
Career
In 1979, Sheikh Hudhaify became the Imam of the Quba Mosque in Madinah. Later that year, he was appointed the chief Imam of the Prophet’s Mosque, Al-Masjid al-Nabawi. His responsibilities expanded in 1981 when he also served as the Imam of the Masjid al-Haram during Ramadan.
Throughout his career, he has taught at the Islamic University of Madinah and has held significant roles such as the Chairman of the Committee for the Revision of the Holy Qur’an in Madinah. His recitations of the Quran are highly respected and widely broadcast globally.
